Top 5
SO I have been thinking about my 5 favorite albums of 2007 and here there are in no particular order

The Arcade Fire- Neon Bible Some really good stuff on here. At first I was a bit underwhelmed, but after a few listens it really started to stick with me. I love Win Butler's singing voice and his lyrics. He sings straight from the gut, with a voice that always sounds like it is on the verge of crying, but it not like Bright Eyes. He sings about real pain and suffering, about working hard and not making ends meet, the trouble in the world, his want for children and the problems facing our generation. A serious contender for my favorite album of 2007 if I put them in a particular order

Sunset Rubdown- Random Spirit Lover Let me just say that I love Spencer Krug (in a totally not gay way (not that there's anything wrong with that)). He has a great yelping voice that he knows how to use, and writes some great, confusing lyrics. Random Spirit Lover shows some growth over Sunset Rubdown's previous outing, the fantastic Shut Up I'm Dreaming. The songs here are grander, faster and more energetic at times, while more heartfelt and softer at other times. The album sticks together as a great collection of songs, but still offers some great ones for those playlist makers out there. Check out "the mending of the gown" and "The Taming of the Hands That Came Back to Life".

The Besnard Lakes- The Besnard Lakes are the Dark Horse This is just a great album all around, especially if you happen to be in an altered state of mind (high). The entire album is reverbed to oblivion, so it feels like it is played in a canyon or something like that. There are some great pop melodies hidden in all of that reverb, and some crazy Wilson-esque vocals. It may take some time to adjust to, but it is totally worth it.

The National - The Boxer Much in the same vein as the Arcade Fire, the National sings of pain and life, but they are a bit more laid back about it. Matt Berninger's deep baritone voice is damn near perfect.

The Shins- Wincing the Night Away This is far from the Shins best album, but I love the Shins.

Honorable Mentions:
Field Music-Tones of the Towns
Feist-The Reminder yes I do like it better than let it die.
Kevin Drew-Spirit If....
Radiohead-In Rainbows better than Hail to the Thief!
Band of Horses-Cease to Begin No where near as good as their first outing, but still nice to listen to.
